foodigIT is a Horizon Europe initiative led by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, created to advance computational food science and digital transformation in food safety, quality, and sustainability. With a mission rooted in research excellence, artificial intelligence, data science, and knowledge transfer, the project needed a digital presence that could communicate complex scientific work with clarity, credibility, and energy.
AUTH partnered with PRAN to design and develop a custom website from the ground up. The goal was not simply to create a new website, but to build a flexible digital portal that could support researchers, project stakeholders, partners, and public audiences as the initiative grows.
The foodigIT project brings together ambitious research, multiple stakeholder groups, EU-level communication needs, publications, news, academic activity, and public-facing information. This created a clear challenge: the website had to feel credible enough for a research and Horizon Europe context, while also feeling fresh, accessible, and easy to navigate.
PRAN worked closely with the AUTH team through interviews, stakeholder conversations, and collaborative planning sessions. Together, we shaped the website structure, clarified content priorities, and mapped user journeys that could serve different audiences, from researchers exploring publications to visitors learning about the Centre’s mission and impact.
PRAN delivered the UX/UI design and WordPress development for a fully custom website, using the visual identity created by Faze Design Studio as the foundation. The result is a tailored digital experience that balances scientific authority with a modern technology-driven look and feel.
The website was built as a custom WordPress platform, giving the AUTH team a flexible content management system for publishing updates, managing pages, presenting research, and supporting public communication. The structure was designed to make complex information easier to explore, while the interface brings clarity and momentum to the foodigIT story.
The project began with discovery and stakeholder alignment. PRAN worked with the AUTH team to understand the initiative’s goals, audiences, workflows, and communication needs. From there, we shaped the information architecture, user journeys, and content structure before moving into UX/UI design and custom development.
Accessibility, speed of execution, and stakeholder approvals were central constraints throughout the project. The website needed to meet the expectations of an EU-funded research initiative while still launching quickly and giving the team practical tools for long-term content management.
Within two months, PRAN took the website from initial planning to launch, combining design, development, QA, content support, and deployment into a focused delivery process.
The new foodigIT website gives AUTH a clearer and stronger platform for presenting the project’s mission, research activity, publications, news, and wider ecosystem. It supports faster publishing, easier content updates, and a more coherent public presence for a complex research initiative.
For foodigIT, the platform creates a digital home that reflects both the credibility of academic research and the ambition of a forward-looking innovation project. For AUTH, it provides a custom, scalable WordPress foundation that can continue evolving with the Centre, its partners, and its growing body of work.
